Al Shindagha Museum is an all-encompassing venue for people interested in Dubai history and it acts as both: a portal to the past and a window on the future. Al Shindagha Museum paints a complete picture of Emirati and Dubai heritage, inviting visitors to explore this heritage through three main themes: ‘Living off the Sea and Land’, ‘Creativity and Well-Being’, and ‘Governance and Society’.
The iconic Dubai Creek area is the home to the museum. Dubai Creek divides the city's older neighbourhoods of Bur Dubai and Deira. The creek that we know today was constructed in 1961, although it has been the lifeline of the area for centuries, serving as Dubai's main connection to the rest of the world. Al Shindagha Museum was developed as part of an initiative to transform the creek into a regional culture and traditional centre. Through exciting and engaging exhibitions, events museum tells the universal tale of human innovation, resilience, and the desire for progress which shaped the Dubai of nowadays.
Here you can discover items of deep cultural significance, ranging from artefacts and art works to archival photography, short movie and educational content. You ticket includes also entrance to the Perfume House, where you can see traditional techniques for making scented oils and perfumes that date back centuries, it will take you to the aromatic journey to learn about ancient traditions while exploring some unusual ingredients.
The entry cost is minimal and as well while visiting a museum you can enjoy gorgeous sunset over charming creek, where dhow boats and passing abras will make you feel peaceful.

What you need to know

- Your ticket allows you access to Dubai Creek: Birth of a city and Perfume House.
- Simply by mentioning Dubai Historical District, brings you to Shindagha, you can park in open parking area along Al Khaleej street. You can reach through different ways of public transportation as well: Dubai metro (Al Ghubaiba Metro Station), Dubai Bus, Dubai Ferry (Al Ghubaiba - Dubai Marina Al Ghubaiba - Dubai Canal). Al Shindagha City Center is the nearest landmark.
- Make sure you set aside a day to absorb both the exhibits in the museum as well as the unique setting alongside the historic Creek.
